New Steez Custom HMKL minnow features one-of-a-kind, fish-catching design
Cypress, CA (July 14, 2021) – Known for their extraordinary multi-species fish-catching abilities, there’s just something special about jerkbaits. Whether cast or trolled, they simply catch fish—no bones about it. Along those lines, Daiwa is proud to introduce a radical new take in jerkbait design born from the research and testing of renowned Daiwa tackle designer Kazuma Izumi. Enter the Steez Custom HMKL Minnow. The HMKL’s first design was based on the universal profile of minnows, but Daiwa tackle designer Kazuma Izumi has taken it much further choosing just the right material, coating, lip design, figure, and size. Its design is simple—and that’s to appeal to universal forage bases of various different types of minnows and juvenile fish. Izumi comments, “Ever since Daiwa started designing and building baits our first concern has been to create lures which look and act realistically. Now, in addition to that challenge, we’ve also explored more effective combination of colors and actions that provoke predatory fish.”
In terms of body design, the shape of the HMKL’s body is incredibly lean because designer Izumi believes that “leaner lures are more effective in tough fishing situations.” “The ultimate goal,” says Izumi, “was to create a jerkbait that blows the competition away with its lean profile, action, and form, and simply catches more fish.”To that end, Izumi crafted a bait with a unique weight transfer system, with SaqSas swivels on the front and back to reduce fish coming off, and a circuit board carbon fiber bill—the first ever on a jerkbait—that’s very durable and won’t chip. Like the rudder of a boat, the circuit board bill keeps the bait’s action accurate and very precise every time you use it. It’s also extremely sharp and cuts the water very accurately, getting the bait where it needs to be….The HMKL also casts like a bullet thanks to its SaqSas weight transfer system that utilizes small tungsten weights. The smaller tungsten weights also allow the bait more balance under the water and the internal counter buoyance weight stabilizes the bait without any unnecessary noise. And when it’s time to set the hook, know that a pair of quality stainless steel SaqSas treble hooks are up to the task.
You’ll immediately appreciate its picture-perfect-profile, a dead ringer for the real thing. Equally impressive is the HMKL’s signature wobble and roll. There are numbers of other realistic-looking jerkbaits, but none tuned this perfectly and capable of summoning so many bites—and keeping the fish glued to the hooks.Beyond bass – largemouth, smallmouth and spotted – Daiwa’s HMKL is also prolific on walleyes, trout, and pike.Daiwa HMKL Features and Specifications:Silent magnet transfer system for longer castsSaqSas weight transfer systemSaqSas swivelsSaqSas hooksIndustry first use of a circuit board bill with ABS body in jerkbaits5.4 inches in length & 4/7 ounces in weightMSRP: $25.99
